MTN South Africa is celebrating the start of the 2010 World Cup in true Ayoba style by reducing off peak call rates to 95c per minute for customers on MTN Off Peak and MTN Off Peak TopUp contracts. This is one of the lowest mobile call rates in South Africa.

“We want to make communication more affordable in order for our customers to keep in touch with their friends and family during this festival of soccer starting in South Africa,” says Serame Taukobong, Chief Marketing Officer at MTN South Africa.

Additionally, MTN is lowering the peak rate on these packages from R2.85 to R2.50. Both the off peak and peak rates are charged per second from the first second and the new rates apply to calling any local number.

The MTN Off Peak and MTN Off Peak TopUp contracts are best for customers who make most of their calls from 20:00 on weekdays and on weekends. These packages are normally sold along with a cellphone on a 24-month contract basis.

Additionally, all MTN Off Peak and MTN Off Peak TopUp contracts come with airtime value and 25 free SMSes every month for 24 months.

Existing MTN AnyTime contract customers who feel they would benefit more on the off peak packages can contact their service provider to change to an MTN Off Peak or MTN Off Peak TopUp package.

“Not only has MTN invested more than R7 billion in upgrading its network infrastructure for the 2010 World Cup and beyond during 2009, it is continually unveiling innovative products and solutions that meet the diverse needs of its customers,” says Taukobong.

This promotion is effective from 11 June 2010 until 11 July 2010.

Existing MTN AnyTime contract customers who feel they would benefit more on these off peak packages can contact their service provider to change to an MTN Off Peak or MTN Off Peak TopUp package. Customers who are due for a cellphone upgrade or those intending to get a new cellphone contract can visit their nearest MTN store or www.mtn.co.za for current phone specials.
