The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) Limpopo held a Technical Inspectorate Workshop in its efforts to capacitate inspectors to forge an integrated approach when they inspect the quality of homes.

This included construction project managers, senior management in integrated sustainable human settlements, NHBRC inspectors, municipal building inspectors and property valuators.

"This gives us an opportunity to strengthen existing relations by outlining the role of each institution on site, equip the inspectors across the board on new developments and come up with new approaches when we do home inspections," said Provincial Manager Nurse Chavalala.

The workshop focused on: the impact of newly revised NHBRC Home Builders Manual; Policy and Quality Plan for Material Testing Protocol; professionalisation of inspectors and the development of building inspectorate qualification.

The theme of the workshop was: "Accelerating the construction of quality homes for the people" and was held in conjunction with South African Local Government Association (SALGA), municipalities, Department of Cooperative Governance Human Settlements & Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), Housing Development Agency (HDA) and Project Management Unit (PMU). More than 170 people attended the two-day workshop at Karibu Lodge in Tzaneen.
