NHBRC to provide technical construction training for youth in Sekhukhune

The National Home builders Registration Council (NHBRC) will on Friday, 9 June 2017 be launching its home building technical training programme in order to capacitate unemployed young people in the Sekhukhune District at the annual Sekhukhune Youth Opportunities Expo as part of its youth month activities.

This is in partnership with the National Department of Human Settlements and the Sekhukhune District Municipality to ensure that the beneficiaries can actively participate in the construction industry and the home building sector.

The Expo now in its third year is organised by the Sekhukhune District Municipality and its other partners in its effort to empower the youth through various development programmes and initiatives. This year the event will be held at Thaba Moshate Casino and Convention Centre, Burgersfort and will focus on careers, entrepreneurship, enterprise development and funding. Participants can expect the following activities:

1. High level panel discussion - 6am to 6pm2. Career Expo - 7am to 5pm3. Youth in Business Seminar - 10am to 4pm

As part of youth development, the NHBRC will train about 60 young people from various villages in collaboration with the Department of Human Settlements and other partners.

A number of stakeholders, such as the Provincial Department of Human Settlements, Innovative Building Technology Service Providers will also present a number of opportunities that are available for the youth.

The NHBRC has adopted a social transformation programme aimed at capacitating youth, women, military veterans and people with disabilities with technical skills so that they can actively participate in the home building industry.

The NHBRC will also be bringing its mobile office to the area to offer support to consumers and home builders who are unable to travel to its main customer care offices.
