Eskom encourages entrepreneurship at annual Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo
[Johannesburg, 14 August 2014] -
Over and above their mandate to keep South Africa's lights on, Eskom is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of the people in the communities where they operate. Its corporate social investment (CSI) initiatives, implemented by the Eskom Development Foundation NPC, are run along a number of themes, of which enterprise development is key.Over the years, the foundation has experienced tremendous success in its economic empowerment programmes. Its considerable experience in this field has demonstrated that the best vehicle for job creation, and hence poverty alleviation, is through skills development and capacity building of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).One of the foundation's flagship events is the Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo. This increasingly popular annual expo, run in partnership with Thebe Exhibitions, Special Projects, Conferences & Events, is dedicated to developing entrepreneurship in South Africa and will take place from Thursday to Sunday 11-14 September at the Coca-Cola Dome, in Johannesburg.
