FedGroup's Fund Administration team visited Cotlands orphanage, in Turffontein, last week. Organised as a team-building event, the Group's “yellow apples” gave back to the community by painting jungle gyms and organising toy libraries.

Divided into two groups, the team ensured the Cotlands children have a colourful jungle gym to play on and a neatened toy library to keep their toys.

Welcoming the Group's “yellow apples” to Cotlands, Fund Administration Manager Lynette Schoeman explained why she had chosen Cotlands as a team-building venue: “In our day-to-day administration of funds, we often forget the difference that we make in a fund member's life.

“Today, as we paint jungle gyms and organise toys, let us be reminded of the difference that we make as a team, not only at Cotlands, but back at the FedGroup office as well.”

Acknowledging that the difference made by the administration team is often clouded by paperwork and processes, FedGroup executive Grant Field expressed his excitement for the team to take part in an activity that would highlight the reality of what they do. “What we do often becomes clinical.

“We need to be reminded that, at the end of the line, there is a life that we are making a difference to. Whether we are painting a jungle gym and organising toys for orphaned children today, or processing a death claim that will ultimately look after a minor child tomorrow, we are making a difference.”
