MTN has won the prestigious Top Employer Award in this year's survey, adding to its growing list of accolades.

The recognition enables a valuable brand, in this case, MTN, to continue to stand out as an employer of choice. Based on talent management, succession planning, innovative culture and corporate social investment, MTN scooped the Top Employer Award for 2013/14.

"We are elated by being selected as a Top Employer in the country," Themba Nyathi, MTN SA's Human Resources Executive, said. "It means we're providing our employees with an outstanding place to work in and enabling a 'can do' attitude."

MTN provides a flexible and performance-driven work environment, which is clearly and visibly demonstrated through everyday leadership decisions, face-to-face interactions with employees and generous packages.

Employees who make an outstanding contribution to the company are rewarded every year through the Y'ello Stars programme. Employees also take great satisfaction in volunteering for the less fortunate in the company's annual 21 Days of Y'ello Care volunteerism initiative.

"At MTN, we are fully aware that the more a company grows, the more it has to sharpen its competitive edge to stay ahead of the game," Nyathi stated. "MTN has a strong sense of responsibility towards those less fortunate. We have the 21 Days of Y'ello Care campaign, where all MTN staff can volunteer to take part and make a difference.

"The calibre of our employees is a key differentiator in the increasingly competitive ICT sector. This is helping the company to grow its leadership position not only in South Africa, but across its 22 markets where it operates in Africa and the Middle East," said Nyathi.

The Top Employer listing follows another significant achievement for the MTN brand. In August, MTN was named as South Africa's most valuable brand in this year's Brand Finance Most Valuable Brands Survey, for a second consecutive year.

In May, MTN again topped the list as the only African brand on the Millward-Brown BrandZ Top 100 Global Brands survey for 2013. MTN debuted at position 88 in the survey last year, and in 2013, MTN moved up an impressive nine places to position 79, with an overall increase in brand value of 23%.Brand Finance Top 50 Most Valuable Brands account for almost R300 billion - a sizable share of the 400 listed companies on the R9 trillion combined market cap JSE.
