MTN's major investment in its network over the past three years continues to deliver an improved customer experience. Among a number of recent accolades, the MyBroadband third quarter survey, based on responses from 4 169 broadband users, has ranked MTN as the best mobile data provider in South Africa.

"We are very proud to have received such a prestigious accolade and thank everyone who participated. Our commitment to our customers is to continue to enhance and grow our network as we serve them in a manner that works for them, bringing them closer to what they want and need," says Godfrey Motsa, Chief Executive Officer: MTN SA.

Over the past three years MTN has been a forerunner in its investment into network infrastructure and information systems, after committing R33 billion in capital expenditure during this period.

"We have made a firm commitment to transform our consumer experience and have delivered a network that is second to none. This accolade encourages us to work harder to continue brightening the lives of our customers and maintain a Bozza network that is unequalled in South Africa," says Giovanni Chiarelli, Chief Technology and Information Officer: MTN SA.

Apart from this recent accolade, MyBroadband had voted MTN as the Best Network for Q4 of 2016, and Q1 of 2018; while engineering and testing company, P3 communications, ran a series of tests which found MTN's network performance was superior when compared to that of its competitors in South Africa on both voice and data services.

MTN now has coverage all over the country, with 4G available in metros, cities, towns and major routes linking Johannesburg, Durban, Tshwane and Polokwane to a large majority of customers. 4G can be optimised for mobile broadband and provides seamless access to the Internet, offers faster upload and download speeds and an improved streaming experience.

"These improvements boost access to the rich world of data by connecting more people across the country to reliable, accessible and affordable services. The improvements we continue to make in our network bodes well for our customers' ability to access the Internet at faster speeds, utilise streaming services such as YouTube more seamlessly without buffering, and to download and upload content at lightning speeds. While a delay in providing access to spectrum remains a serious industry-wide challenge, we cannot stand still. These recent improvements brighten the lives of our customers," concludes Chiareli.
