MTN launches reverse call service

MTN has launched another exciting proposition that ensures all MTN customers who have run out of airtime can stay connected with their loved ones by means of a reversed charge call.

This service, called MTN Pay4Me, enables customers who have insufficient airtime to reverse call the receiver, who will be liable for the cost of the call. The customer receiving the call will be pre-notified and given the option to either accept or reject the Pay4Me call.

Should the receiver accept the call, they will charged on behalf of the caller at 99c per minute on a per second billing, regardless of their tariff plan.

Should the receiver not have sufficient airtime to sponsor the call, they will receive an SMS notification about the missed Pay4Me call.

Larry Annetts, Chief Marketing Officer: MTN South Africa, says Pay4Me is another innovative way that ensures MTN customers stay connected regardless of their financial circumstances.

"MTN is aware of how hard-pressed consumers are and this proposition seeks to ensure that its subscribers stay connected despite their financial situation. Through Pay4Me, MTN shows that it cares for the welfare of its customers and ensures that customers can fulfil their innate human instincts - the need to communicate - regardless of their personal circumstances," says Annetts.

Pay4Me will be available from Friday, 24 October and will be available to all MTN customers. The service will be applicable between MTN to MTN calls.

Customers who want to use this service need to dial 127 from their MTN-sim, followed by the number they wish to call, and activate the call button. Alternatively, they can dial *127* followed by the cellphone number they wish to call, followed by the # button.

Sponsor customers can manage the number of people calling them on the service by dialling *127#. The menu allows the customer to add the cellphone numbers of accepted people calling them using this service, including children and household staff.

"This functionality saves time for the customer as the sponsor does not have to approve a Pay4Me request every time the frequent users of the service calls them," adds Annetts.
