To celebrate Mandela's 94th birthday on 18 July, FedGroup launched an exciting initiative. Dubbed the “FedGroup Berg & Bush Nelson Mandela initiative”, the FedGroup family is calling on enthusiastic mountain bikers to join the initiative.

The initiative, which has already received a strong response, is straightforward. The heart of the initiative, however, is slightly more delicate and is based on the premise of making a difference...

Xhead = 94 likes

The first 94 likes that the FedGroup Facebook page receives will qualify for a lucky draw. The winner will be announced on 31 July and will receive a team entry to the FedGroup Berg & Bush 2Day event.

Xhead = One team

The 2012 FedGroup Berg & Bush is split over three events, namely: the 2Day event, the Descent and the Great Trek.

Known to overwhelm mountain bike riders with the Drakensberg route's scenic beauty and panoramic views, FedGroup Berg & Bush 2Day entries are snatched within the first few weeks of opening.

Boat crossings, floating bridge traversing and the mighty Spioenkop challenge are but some of the highlights that the winning team can experience. The team will also be spoilt with champagne breakfasts, sundowner tours and watering points that are stocked with farm-style treats.

Xhead = 94 days to prepare

With only 94 days to prepare, FedGroup will ensure the team is properly prepared to tackle their challenging adventure. In doing so, FedGroup will organise a pre-ride with FedGroup-Itec Connect pro, Brandon Stewart, as well as provide complimentary sessions with a fitness trainer.

Xhead = 94 children who will benefit

On 3 November 2012, the team will tackle the 115 kilometres of mountain biking bliss. For each kilometre completed, the FedGroup family will donate towards creating back-to-school stationery packs for 2013.

The recipients of these stationery packs? Ninety-four children from the SOS Children's Village.

The SOS Children's Village South Africa is an independent, non-profit, charitable and social development organisation.

Through its initiative, the FedGroup family hopes to ensure 94 children are given the basic tools they would require for a successful 2013 school year. Investing in these children, FedGroup hopes to contribute to improving the chances of a productive South African society.
