Top companies share cloud computing experience at ITWeb summit

Tiger Brands, Tiger Wheel & Tyre, Sun International, the Foschini Group and BankservAfrica will present case studies on their cloud and virtualisation implementations at ITWeb's Virtualisation & Cloud Computing Summit.

From 17 to 19 July, at The Forum, in Bryanston, the Summit will focus on critical success factors for local environments.

“Our speakers will offer details from their own cloud and virtualisation experiences, implementations and research, focusing on what's relevant to South African businesses,” says Jacqueline L"ues, programme director at ITWeb Events.

Topics of discussion will include overcoming local bandwidth limitations and assessing to what extent the local infrastructure and regulatory environment can support a move to a virtualised/cloud environment.

Darryl Thwaits, CIO at Tiger Brands, will present on practical stepping stones to developing a cloud and virtualisation strategy - a case study with the South African consumer packaged goods company.

Melody Fourie, group IT executive at Tiger Wheel & Tyre, will present on implementing virtualised data centres and private and public cloud strategies - a case study with the South African retail giant.

[Sidebar]Three other companies presenting case studies are Sun International, with CIO Thabo Ndlela; Africa's largest automated clearing house, BankservAfrica, with Rishi Pillay, CEO of Automated Clearing Business at BankservAfrica; and the Foschini Group's infrastructure executive, Jurgen Richter, will present a case study with the specialty retailer.

The Virtualisation & Cloud Computing Summit will also feature an interactive workshop, to be held by ITWeb in conjunction with CTU Training.
