ITWeb news journalist Kathryn McConnachie has been promoted to digital media editor at ITWeb Online.

Kathryn joined ITWeb in 2011 as a winner of the ITWeb Journalism Bursary for 2010, awarded annually to best students at the Rhodes School of Journalism and Media Studies who take up New Media as a specialisation.

“Through her digital media expertise, creative thinking, excellent writing, and ability to tap into what our readers love to read (and watch!), Kathryn has provided ITWeb Online with a whole new portfolio of stories, videos, polls, reviews, slideshows and graphics,” says Glenda van Zyl, editorial director of ITWeb Online.

“During her relatively short time at ITWeb, she has helped to re-energise our news gathering and presentation. Her digital media flair and ability to spot news leads, add context, visuals and video, ensure a complete news package for our readers,” adds Van Zyl.

ITWeb, which posts technology news as it breaks and provides in-depth tech trends analysis and commentary, is ready for the disruptive changes that are reshaping both the ICT and the media industry.

Says Ranka Jovanovic, ITWeb group editorial director: “Information delivery and consumption methods are changing rapidly, and we see this as an opportunity to both strengthen and transform our services to readers.

“As digital media editor, Kathryn will be able to maximise her talents - in creating the content that the modern, tech-savvy reader wants, and in recognising the best way to deliver this content.”
