ITWeb to host Social Media Summit for businesses
SA's top social media practitioners and thought leaders will cut through the social media buzz to the heart of the real business issues. 26 - 27 June, at The Forum, in Bryanston
We've all heard we should be 'doing' social media because it can transform our organisations, up our bottom lines and have a tremendous impact on the way we do business. With so much excitement in the air, it's become difficult to see through the hype.
ITWeb is hosting its inaugural Social Media Summit, from 26 - 27 June, at The Forum, in Bryanston. Themed: “Social Media for Business”, the summit aims to equip senior decision-makers with the information necessary to use social media to gain a competitive advantage.
Local social media experts and corporate practitioners - many of whom are recognised as pioneers in this field - will share insights, strategies and real, practical advice that will cut through the buzz to the heart of the real business issues.
“Many businesses dismiss social media as a wasteful distraction, while others embrace it without quite knowing what to do with it,” says Ranka Jovanovic, ITWeb's editorial director. “Our Social Media Summit will enable the sharing of ideas, experiences and lessons learnt to help guide delegates though this uncharted territory. We hope they will come away with a better understanding of how to overcome the risks and maximise the benefits of social media for their business.”
The summit will also provide a forum where those operating in social media can engage with others facing the same challenges, discuss this new area and identify key trends, challenges and solutions.
Confirmed speakers include:
* Mel Attree, Digital Strategist, Cerebra (previously Marketing, DigiPR, social media consultant, managing member: GetOn eMarketing) * Jarred Cinman, CEO: Native * Kate Elphick, MD: Digital Bridges * Scott Gray, head of Strategy: Quirk * Tom Manners, MD, Clockwork Media * Mike Stopforth, CEO, Cerebra * Suzanne Little, brand manager - Social Media & Social CRM: MWEB, and head of Marketing: DMMA * Nikki Cockcroft, head of Online at Woolworths, Chair at Digital Media and Marketing Association (DMMA) * Bernard Odendaal, CEO: The Fact Foundry * Paul Jacobson, director: WebTechLaw * Walter Pike, founder of PiKE | New marketing and The Digital Academy
In addition to the two-day conference, ITWeb will also be offering a workshop hosted by Paul Jacobson, director of Web and digital media legal compliance and services firm, Web Tech Law.
This practical workshop will offer a general introduction to social media in the workplace, and will focus on how to develop and implement a social media policy.
Delegates may book separately for the workshop, or attend it as part of the summit.
