The ITWeb Security Summit will host three workshops on 12 May at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The first workshop, themed “Governance, Compliance and Managing Risk in the Cloud”, will be presented by a panel of international and local experts.

It will examine the business and IT processes which need to be governed in public and private clouds, including the top threats and mitigations that both the cloud vendor and customer can employ.

The second workshop will focus on Web application security and will show attendees how they can develop secure applications. It aims to help delegates understand Web application security threats and identify inside and external threats.

The third workshop will showcase security incident metrics and risk assessments. Using the Veris Framework, participants will learn about threat models and how to develop their own incident metrics.

The three-day event will host international experts such as Robert Fly, head of product security at Salesforce.com; Bradley Anstis, VP of technical strategy at M86 Security; Rik Ferguson, solutions architect at Trend Micro; and Nils, head of security research at MWR InfoSecurity.

The event will also feature Sinisha Patkovic, director of BlackBerry Security; Tony Stephanou, T-Systems CSO; Parisa Tabriz, information security engineer at Google; Caroline Wong, Zynga strategic security manager; and Richard Thieme, founder of Thiemeworks.

In addition, ITWeb will host a Community Hub where delegates can engage with security experts to exchange ideas and network.
