The ITWeb/CareerWeb 2016 IT Salary Survey is under way, collecting entries from a wide range of South African IT professionals across all major industry sectors.

Now in its 17th year, the survey is established as South Africa's definitive tech salaries and careers guide. ITWeb editorial director Ranka Jovanovic says the ITWeb/CareerWeb survey collects data directly from ICT professionals and captures over 3 500 entries every year, with respondents ranging from entry-level help-desk technicians and junior programmers, to chief architects and CIOs.

The results report ranks among the best-read posts of the year on ITWeb, she says.

This year, ITWeb has partnered with specialist remuneration consultancy Emergence Growth to add expertise and further rigour to the data cleansing and analysis process.

"As a media house, what we have been lacking is remuneration specialist expertise. The partnership with Emergence Growth will help us considerably improve the final report, as they will add their expertise to the data cleaning and analysis process," notes Jovanovic. "We are hoping to achieve industry-wide participation once again this year. With close to two decades of salary data, we are able to perform interesting comparative analyses and track trends that reflect the state of the local ICT sector."

The questionnaire takes less than 10 minutes to fill in. "As soon as we reach a critical mass of responses, we'll open the popular Salary Comparison feature so that respondents can compare their salary to the average for their profile, in real-time," Jovanovic says.
