Leading cyber security firm Panda Security has been awarded a three-year contract providing EDR protection for Telefonica's global offices.

For Telefonica, a combination of Panda Security's cutting-edge solutions has been employed to build a robust cyber security posture.

This includes Panda Security's advanced endpoint detection and response (EDR) solution: Adaptive Defense with its Threat Hunting service, deployed on 180 000 endpoints across 14 countries. Panda's Advanced Reporting Tool and SIEM Feeder modules form part of Adaptive Defense to correlate and apply information that is integral to understanding processes and potential vulnerabilities. The addition of Panda Patch Management adds another layer to Telefonica's security posture, reducing the attack surface through effective vulnerability management and managing patch update capacities.

This agreement between the two European multinationals follows an RFI process, a technical evaluation, and negotiations between Telef'onica and various vendors, including SentinelOne, CrowdStrike and Panda Security. This agreement highlights Panda Security's position as a leading European-based EDR vendor.

"Working with Telefonica to secure their global operations is a major milestone and proving ground for us," says Maria Campos, VP Sales Worldwide Key Accounts, Telecoms, and MSSP's at Panda Security. "We have been able to make our most advanced and disruptive technology available to Telefonica, in line with their infrastructure and needs. Our team is committed to working with them over the next three years and into the future to ensure they are ahead of the curve in terms of cyber security", continues Campos.

[SIDEBAR]Juan Santamar'ia, CEO of Panda Security, believes this agreement represents a milestone in the European technology market. "Telef'onica recognises Panda Security's differential technologies and is positioned to take advantage of its capabilities" says Santamaria. Going forward our aim is to reduce the administrative burden of managing cyber security, and maximise protection; we are able to achieve this through our model of integrated managed services, advanced solutions and additional modules," explains Santamaria.

"For the most sophisticated attacks, even those that don't use malware, we need to constantly monitor and analyse the behaviour of systems, applications and users, in order to detect and investigate anomalies regarding the baseline of normal behaviour. And this is exactly what Panda Security offers us: a complete security intelligence system that is able to protect at the highest level and provide us the visibility we need of all the activity on our IT network," says Alejandro Ramos, Global Digital Security Officer at Telef'onica.

With this partnership, Panda Security hopes to reinforce its position as a leader in the market, providing protection for global organisations.

Panda Security Africa Regional Manager Jeremy Matthews will speak at the ITWeb Security Summit in May, sharing his insights into how Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) technology can be used to protect organisations against advanced threats, the different approaches to EDR, and how to decide which approach is best for your organisation.
