As one of the few partners in South Africa to join forces with Microsoft and roll out free Teams for education training, Mint Group is empowering educators and students to continue building knowledge in a remote world.

The top 1% global systems integrator announced on Wednesday, 11 May, that, in addition to its Teams for business training sessions, it would be hosting free tertiary-level focused Teams training days geared towards both educators and students.

The Teams for Tertiary sessions are hosted by senior Modern Workplace consultants, ensuring that learning is made easy for both educators, students and administrative staff. With a streamlined Teams workspace, educators can enable cross-campus collaboration, remote student engagement and information sharing in a secure and controlled environment.

With more than 600 registrations already received, the first two sessions will take place on 18 and 21 May. The material will also be made available for download so educators and students can continue to learn to set up successful virtual education environments with the latest features and applications offered by the Microsoft Teams platform.

This Teams initiative forms part of Mint Group's PowerHour and Teams for Education sessions, which were hosted in April and aimed at businesses and primary and secondary schools across South Africa. Due to the high demand for remote working technology, the sessions received more than 6 000 views, with over 700 material downloads since conclusion.

Mint Group Modern Workplace Delivery Lead, Amanda Ellis, explains that following the announcement from tech giant Microsoft in early March 2020 to render its Teams platform free during the global COVID-19 pandemic, many organisations have followed suit, rendering resources at reduced prices or free to ensure the global economy can continue."

"To continue creating tomorrow, Mint Group was also eager and passionate to assist businesses with Teams training and deep-dive sessions, and we were overwhelmed with the response to these sessions," she added.

"As Modern Workplace enablers and advocates, we are guiding organisations on accessing free licensing, setting up and configuring Teams environments, and adding relevant applications and providing the training, to ensure the Teams platform works for them and truly enables business-as-usual in a very unusual situation.

"The virtual workforce is here to stay, and organisations need to adjust to make the most of it and reap the success that many organisations, such as Wordpress innovator Automattic, have achieved since inception."

Ellis reiterated that to ensure continuous operations and learning, organisations need to reap the resources available to learn about the true power and potential of these technologies as they simplify the complexity of the virtual workplace and deliver unprecedented quality.

"Through education Teams sessions, Mint Group is empowering organisations and educators to use all the functionality of the Teams platform so they can continue with BAU, build the future economy and fuel workplace intelligence. It's the new normal, and we are all a part of building the future of working, learning and development."
