South Africans have reaffirmed their love for the MTN brand by voting it as one of the most popular technology companies, according to the findings of the Ask Afrika survey.

The Ask Africa brand winners are based on 15 169 interviews conducted by the Target Group Index, looking at thousands of brands across 163 product categories.

The resultant data was weighted using the Statistics South Africa's population estimates. Icon scores were calculated based on different metrics for different product categories as loyalty metrics differ for different markets, the group said.

"We are proud of the sterling work that MTN has been doing to win the hearts and minds of South Africans and we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our loyal subscribers for throwing their lot behind the brand," says Larry Annetts, Chief Marketing Officer: MTN South Africa.

According to Ask Afrika, MTN achieved Icon brand status which the research company describes as: "true rainbow nation brands which have achieved love and loyalty among South Africans".

This accolade follows hot on the heels of two accolades that MTN scooped last month after it was voted the Strongest Brand and Most Valuable Brand in the 2014 Brand Finance Awards.
