MTN offerings update

Johannesburg, Jun 13, 2014

MTN South Africa has introduced several voice and data offerings in recent months as testament to its commitment of providing consumers across market segments with solutions tailored to their needs and budgetary requirements.

MTN has adjusted its MTN Pay Per Second price plan base data rate from R2 per megabyte to only 79c per megabyte - a reduction of more than 60%.

As of the 1 June 2014, existing Top Up customers who upgrade or new customers signing up on MTN AnyTime Top Up or MTN Off Peak Top Up price plans will experience 79c/min for voice calls for both their in and out of bundle usage. They will also benefit from a standard 79c/MB for ad-hoc data usage.

MTN Zone Per Second provides customers with up to 100% discount on calls and SMSes throughout the week for on-net calling (MTN to MTN) and up to 80% for off-net (MTN to other local networks).

MTN has also introduced a promotional price plan, called MTN 1c Per Second, which is available for MTN Prepaid and Top Up customers across all local networks. These customers pay 1c a second or 60c per minute for voice calling and have a standard data rate of only 99c per megabyte.

The MTN Talk Free price plan gives customers additional value when making a call and talking for long periods of time. Customers pay R1.20 per minute for the first three minutes on MTN-to-MTN calls and will receive the rest of the hour for free. Customers will be charged 79c per minute when calling other networks. Standard data rate is 99c per megabyte.

Effective from 1 June, customers on MTN AnyTime, My MTNChoice, and MTN Off Peak will enjoy a reduced rate of 99c for all ad-hoc data usage. This price reduction will help lessen the current financial burden experienced by consumers.

These voice and data solutions reflect the changing requirements of MTN customers. The operator is also planning on introducing more innovative solutions for its contract customers that are designed to cater for their voice and data needs.

The MTN 1c Per Second and MTN Talk Free price plans are promotional price plans and will be available until 31 August 2014.
