MTN shows support for mining sector
As one of the sponsors of the 20th annual Mining Indaba held in Cape Town this week, MTN Business demonstrated its support for the industry in South Africa and beyond.
"Our participation in the Mining Indaba illustrates our quest to better understand the needs of our customers across sectors and assist them to unlock opportunities and business value through relevant solutions," says Kanagaratnam Lambotharan, MTN SA Chief Enterprise Business Officer.
The fact that MTN Business is one of the largest investors in telecommunications network infrastructure in Africa, means that it has the necessary mobile and fixed line capabilities in place and provides world-class data centres and hosted IT solutions for the mining industry as well.
"We are able to reduce the cost of doing business while still enabling the mining sector to improve productivity and remain competitive in the global market," says Lambotharan.
Lambotharan states that MTN Business provides a complete set of services to deliver on the entire mining value chain - from identifying and partnering with service providers to improving delivery of services and value to miners. The MTN Business offering includes automation, asset monitoring, remote coverage and machine-to-machine communication. By providing mines with these bespoke solutions, the organisation enables them to focus on their core operations and not have to be concerned about the technology behind it.
"Through working closely with our mining customers, MTN Business gets to understand their needs so as to enhance its mining solutions portfolio to directly resolve the pain points of the industry," concludes Lambotharan.
