For the second consecutive year, MTN South Africa has been voted as the Brand of the Year in the Regional tier of the prestigious World Branding Awards, in the telecommunications category.

This follows a rigorous assessment, evaluation and voting process.

Joining an elite league of Forbes 500 companies that have scooped this award in the past, MTN takes pride in the opportunity this presents and to be honoured for two consecutive years.

The World Branding Awards is the premier awards programme of the World Branding Forum. Winners of the World Branding Awards are uniquely judged through three streams - brand valuation, consumer market research and public online voting. These awards see the best brands in the world being recognised for achievements and work done to maintain the brand and is one of few awards truly dedicated to recognising brands.

MTN was presented with this much sought-after accolade at Kensington Palace, in London, on Tuesday, 20 September.

Says Larry Annetts, MTN South Africa Chief Consumer Officer: "MTN is humbled and honoured for being selected for the second time in a row for this prestigious award. This award elevates MTN's brand equity and puts the brand in the league of household brand names internationally. This accolade pushes us to raise our game and work harder to ensure that MTN continues to win the hearts and the minds of its customers."

The World Branding Awards comes hot on the heels of the Brand Finance Award, which voted MTN as the Most Valuable Brand in South Africa.

"MTN strives to be nothing but the best by maintaining the momentum in staying the number one brand, not just locally, but also globally," concludes Annetts.
