MTN launches video-on-demand services

MTN has launched a subscription-based digital entertainment service called MTN FrontRow Services, which gives its customers access to thousands of movies and their favourite television series on their devices for a launch price of R179 a month.

MTN FrontRow Services comprise MTN FrontRow Club and MTN FrontRow Premiere. Customers who subscribe to MTN FrontRow Club will have access to an extensive catalogue of entertainment, from thrilling action, drama, comedy, romance, music, documentaries and many hours of wholesome entertainment for the kids for the launch price of R179 a month excluding data bundles.

Alongside this offering is MTN FrontRow Premiere, an exciting proposition that gives subscribers the opportunity to rent the latest blockbuster movies from as little as R15 for library titles and R27 each for the latest movies. Subscription to MTN FrontRow Club is a prerequisite to accessing MTN FrontRow Premiere.

From launch, customers who subscribe to MTN FrontRow Club will pay a launch price of R179 a month, or R399 a month inclusive of a 10GB data bundle for streaming and viewing. After three months, the normal subscription fee of R199 without bundles and R499 per month inclusive of the 10GB data bundles will apply.

Subscription to this exciting service is available for both prepaid, postpaid, hybrid and My MTNChoice customers. Customers can access this service from up to five different devices, one device at a time.

MTN will offer the first 1 000 customers who subscribe to MTN FrontRow Club their first month free. These customers will be charged for data to use the service, but the R179 MTN FrontRow Club subscription fee will be waived for that month.

Customers who have subscribed to MTN FrontRow Club can view content via their Internet browser, or through their Android or iOS mobile devices. Subscribers to this service can also download an Android app which can be used to access content. An iOS app will be launched soon.

Customers need to subscribe via the MTN FrontRow portal (www.mtnfrontrow.com) and, once subscribed, they can view any of the thousands of films and TV series unrestricted and as many times as they wish, provided their monthly subscription is active and up to date.

Customers who have opted for the MTN FrontRow Premiere will have 48 hours from the time of purchase to view the content they have chosen and can watch it as many times as they like within this period.

The MTN FrontRow Streaming Services data rates are favourable for streaming and they can only be used for MTN FrontRow Services, and all other data usage will be charged for at Priceplan rates or Internet bundle rates. 10GB of MTN FrontRow Streaming Service bundles will cost R300, while 20GB MTN FrontRow Streaming Service bundles will set the customer back R450. 50GB of MTN FrontRow Streaming Service bundles are priced at R800.
