Prof Oladele best productive researcher at North-West University

Professor Oladimeji Oladele, an academic from the Faculty of Agriculture, Science and Technology at Mafikeng Campus, has been named the North-West University's most productive researcher for the academic year 2013.

This acknowledgement was made during an event to honour North-West University staff members who excelled in the field of research, innovation, community involvement and creativity during a gala dinner held in Potchefstroom on 7 November.

Professor Oladele has published 48 articles, conference proceeding, books and chapter contributions earning 23.12 units.

His research interest covers the socio economic factors relating to farming and household productivity, mainly in the areas of support services and the use of such services. He has examined the broad impact of extension services on farmers' productivity and how focusing on household food security can be improved through extension services.

When asked about his achievement Prof Oladele said: "The award has emphasised that diligence and hard work has a place in the annals of North-West University other than free-riding in collective processes of the institution."

Professor Oladele is a reviewer of several journals which include, among others, Journal of Agricultural Research, Botswana Journal of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Journal of Human Ecology, International Journal of Agriculture and Extension Education, Sustainability Science (Springer Publishers) and Development in Practice and Journal of Biodiversity (India).
