NWU FM nominated at SA's prestigious Hip Hop Awards
Success, the sum of all small efforts repeated day in and out. In equal alliance to our pay-off line: It all starts here.
The NWU Mafikeng campus continues to be a place where imagination has no boundaries; voices and aspirations are amplified; and most importantly, a place where birth is given to dreams.
NWU FM's #TheHipHopCorner has been nominated at the fifth annual South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) for Best Hip Hop Radio Show, being the only campus radio station in the category alongside radio giants such as: YFM, 5FM, Cliff Central, Good Hope FM and Gagasi FM.
The dynamic campus radio show is the only Hip Hop exposition and musical offering in the North West province which puts forward a flair of knowledge around Hip Hop culture and offers a platform that bridges the gap between upcoming talents/acts around its immediate environment.
Hosts Tshepo Kgengwe (Mr Sky) and Phenyo Pilatso (Content Producer) were thrilled by the news and said: "Dynamite indeed comes in small packages. With such a small radius of coverage to being nominated at SA's biggest Hip Hop Awards is a dream come true. It goes to show one must never underestimate one's humble beginnings because they are an elevation to greater heights."
The awards are aimed at celebrating the best of the best within the Hip Hop industry, themed: "Who wants to be a billionaire", given the fact that brands are starting to invest and believe in Hip Hop culture within South Africa.
The awards are due to take place on 14 December at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, Johannesburg, and subsequently to be premiered on MTV Base (DSTV Channel 322).
