Mafikeng scientist receives SAMS Award for Research Distinction
One of NWU Mafikeng Campus scientists, Prof Jamshid Moori, received the South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) Award for Research Distinction. Prof Moori is an A-rated scientist in Pure Mathematics. The award was presented to him at a gala dinner during the 58th Annual Congress of SAMS, held at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, from 4-6 November 2015.
The SAMS Award for Research Distinction serves to recognise and stimulate excellence in research. It is only made in recognition of important research contributions to mathematics or to the applications of mathematics in any field. The intention of the society is that this award should recognise and reward substantial research carried out in South Africa, which does credit to South African Mathematics.
The award is presented in the form of a silver M"obius band with golden rim and appropriate inscription. Congratulations to Prof Moori on being awarded the 2015 SAMS award for research distinction. This is the society's most prestigious award recognising research excellence in South Africa.
