Book published by campus academics gains international acclaim
A book published by campus academics, Prof Bernard Mbenga and Prof Andrew Manson, has gained international acclaim. The book, titled 'People of the Dew', by North-West University Mafikeng Campus's own leading Human and Social Sciences professors, has been translated into six international languages ? German, French, Mandarin, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
The translation of this book to the international languages was made possible to a large extent by Bafokeng Administration and Jacana Media publishers.
'People of the Dew', originally published in 2010 by Jacana Media, portrays the history of the richest ethnic community in Africa, the Bafokeng in Phokeng of the Rustenburg region of South Africa.
"The Bafokeng community and, by extension, South Africa will get much wider publicity internationally. Moreover, the translation now offers scholars in those languages who had no access to the English edition, access to knowledge about the Bafokeng tribe and South Africa," said Prof Mbenga.
"I feel elated and honoured that our book is given such international exposure in so many prominent languages of the world," added Prof Mbenga.
Prof Mbenga and Prof Manson have also co-authored another book titled 'Land Chiefs Mining'.
