Master's degree student awarded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship
A student at the NWU Mafikeng Campus, Kenneth Seheri, scooped the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to further his studies at the Sud Paris Universite, in France. He is currently studying for his master's degree in chemistry in the Faculty of Agriculture, Science and Technology, and will start with the programme in September.
The scholarship is a two-year programme in surface, electro, radiation, and photo chemistry (SERP-CHEM). It also deals with elements of management, business, innovation and communication and patent law. The master's degree SERP-Chem aims at training students in the most performing experimental and theoretical tools used and developed in chemistry, to become the topmost researchers and managers in areas relevant in chemistry.
Seheri will do research and receive training in green chemistry, based on photon-induced reactions, nano-medicine and renewable energies, applications of radiation, surface treatments and modification and environmental concerns.
Students from across the world can apply, which makes it even more special to be selected for the scholarship. "I am very excited about and grateful for receiving this opportunity and looking forward to the next two years, which will equip me to become a leading researcher and specialist in my field," said a jubilant Seheri.
