Campus academic selected for teaching advancement at university fellowship programme
A campus lecturer in the Faculty of Human and Social Science, Dr Liqhwa Siziba, has been selected to form part of the Teaching Advancement University (TAU) fellowship programme. Dr Siziba is one of the candidates the North-West University nominated from a number of applications across the three campuses of the University. She will participate in this programme during the period 2015-2016.
This programme will culminate with the presentation of brief research and development reports by groups of participants. All participants that successfully complete the programme receive a certificate and will become TAU fellows and remain members of the TAU Network.
The programme is for experienced academics who have been acknowledged for their teaching excellence and wish to further extend their knowledge of teaching and learning within a supportive and collegial environment.
The TAU fellowship is a project of the Higher Education Learning and Teaching Association (Heltasa). It is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in collaboration with teaching development grants.
When asked about her selection, Dr Siziba had this to say:
"It is indeed an honour to be considered for the Heltasa Teaching Advancement at University fellowship. I am excited and looking forward to flying the university flag as high as I can. I hope the programme will provide me with a great opportunity to develop as a professional university teacher, and I look forward to sharing the experience with colleagues. I couldn't have made it to the final list without the support of my faculty dean, Dr Setlalentoa, and the guidance and confidence of our campus Vice Rector Teaching and learning, Prof Lalendle. Therefore, this is not an individual achievement, but a community of learning achievement (the university as the community), for it is the university that has shaped me into the lecturer I am today."
