Government officials trained in financial management
Four hundred government officials received training in financial management at the North-West University Graduate School for Business at the Mafikeng Campus. They graduated at a ceremony held on 28 January 2016 at the Bafokeng Civic Centre after successfully completing a programme called Financial Management for Non-Financial Managers.
The training focused on the essentials of finance for non-finance managers conducted over a period of 24 months through the support of the North West government's Department of Finance.
Present at the ceremony were tourism MEC Desbo Mohono, MEC for finance, Wendy Nelson and the NWU Mafikeng Campus Rector Prof Mashudu Davhana-Maselesele.
Speaking at the ceremony Nelson applauded the officials for taking up the challenge by empowering themselves with a valuable and significant tool.
"The best gift that any living being receives is that of education. It plays a very important part in our lives."
She further encouraged officials who were graduating to use the knowledge to improve financial management in the province in order to work towards improving future audit outcomes.
NWU Campus rector also congratulated the trainees and also thanked the provincial government for having chosen NWU Mafikeng Graduate School as their centre for training for government officials.
