NRF recognises NWU professor's research
The National Research Foundation (NRF) has recently awarded Prof Eno Ebenso, (acting Vice-Rector for Research and Planning at the NWU Mafikeng Campus) a B3 rating for the considerable international recognition he attained in the field of chemistry - meaning he is an internationally acclaimed researcher for the high quality and impact of his recent research outputs.
Prof Ebenso was previously an NRF researcher with a C1 rating. He has published extensively in the area of corrosion inhibition chemistry and currently has an H-Index of 40 and 5 406 total citations from the Scopus Search Engine of Elsevier Science since 1996. According to the Elsevier SciVal Insights Report (2010-2015), he has a citation impact 10% above world average, second most prolific author in the field of corrosion inhibition worldwide and fifth most downloads of his publications globally in the field of corrosion inhibition. His Google Scholar Citations since 2011 are 8 307 with an H index of 51 and i10-index of 143.
Prof Ebenso obtained his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Calabar, Nigeria and his area of research is Physical Chemistry, corrosion science, contemporary material science and quantum chemical modelling. He has published extensively in local and international peer-reviewed journals of wide readership with more than 200 publications. He also published articles in newspapers, plenary/invited lectures and conference proceedings and has been a visiting scholar to several universities worldwide.
He has also been awarded and cited in Marquis WHO'S WHO in American Education (2003/2004, 2006/2007); Marquis WHO'S WHO in Science and Engineering (2006) and Marquis WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD (2006). On top of that, he has been nominated by the International Biographical Centre for the 21st Century Award for Achievement in Chemistry, the award for Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st century and the International Scientist of the year 2010. He is a member of the editorial board of the following journals namely Research Journal of Chemical Sciences, Journal of Materials and Environmental Sciences, Recent Patents on Corrosion Science, International Journal of Materials and Chemistry, Journal of Chemica Acta, Advances in Materials and Corrosion, Journal of Applied Chemistry, Journal of Theoretical Chemistry. He is a reviewer of more than 30 journals in chemistry and material science and a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (MCSN), American Chemical Society (MACS), New York Academy of Sciences, National Geographical Society, Nigerian Corrosion Society, Society for the Advancement of Electrochemical Science & Technology (SAEST), International Society of Electrochemistry, Chemical Society of Ethiopia, South African Chemical Institute (M.S.A. Chem. I.) and South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) and many other scientific professional bodies. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK and a member of Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf).
