Education student launches first children’s book
PhD in Education student, Jennifer Sheokarah, recently launched her first children’s book called 'The Abandoned Bicycle'. The book is about a little boy, Jevon, who finds an old bicycle at the beach which, seemingly, has magical powers, whenever he rides it.
Sheokarah started writing at a young age and always had a passion for literature. She decided that it was time to do it professionally and started by penning a novel during the COVID-19 lockdown period, which will be released soon.
"I actually had a dream about writing this children’s book. I guess it was the author in me reaching out and my imagination was on overdrive. I always trust my instinct so I woke up and wrote this story. I believe it was for a good reason and it has kick-started my work as an author. I have received positive feedback from the public so far and many sales already," said Sheokarah.
'The Abandoned Bicycle' is the first book in her new Abandoned Series. She is currently finalising the next book, 'The Abandoned Treasure Chest' and is working on a novel for young adults.
"As a teacher of English, I want to be able to model what I tell my students about reading," said Sheokarah.
'The Abandoned Bicycle' is available as an e-book and paperback for purchase on Amazon Online and bidorbuy.
