"Joining the VUT cohort of alumni's is a momentous, long awaited day for many. It is also a joyous time for higher education and those that have contributed immensely in moulding and giving confidence to these graduates," said VUT's Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Irene Moutlana in her congratulatory speech to all graduates.
It's not so often that siblings graduate at the same time, but when it happens it's something worth writing home about. The Bakithi family's double portion of success comes in the form of Mvubu and Nomsilo Bakithi.
Born and raised in the famous South Western Township of Gauteng, known as Soweto, the brother and sister pair was conferred their Baccalaureus Technologiae (BTech) Degrees in Information Technology at the Faculty of Applied Sciences graduation ceremony.
The siblings were both elated and are looking forward to a great future ahead. "The secret recipe is perseverance. It is perseverance that has brought us so much joy today. Perseverance is the mother of all success," said the Bakithi siblings, when asked how they both did it.
They are both working in the Gauteng Province and aspire to achieve more in the near future.
