The Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) is inviting you to an important conversation on the Importance of Mental Health in Urban Development with Dr Shaquir Salduker. Dr Salduker is a Psychiatrist in private practice at St. Augustine’s hospital Durban, a Director of Psychiatry management group (PsychMG), and Director of the Durban pain clinic. Dr Shaquir obtained his undergraduate training at Nelson Mandela school of medicine and a Fellow of college of psychiatry South Africa.

“Researchers worldwide agree that the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will be with us for many years to come. They also agree that the impact on mental health will probably be the greatest and most enduring,” says Luvuyo Bangazi, MBDA Spokesperson.

“COVID-19 has only added to the pressures that development workers experience regularly, from dealing with poverty situations, homelessness, gender-based violence, human trafficking or violence in construction projects, development workers are not spared from the trauma.”

Bangazi concludes: “Through this webinar, we hope to start a conversation towards healing and develop coping mechanisms to support the efforts of urban developers."

Date and time: Thursday, 15 April 2021, 9:30am, Harare, Pretoria
