How death is a motivator for life

We often think of death as being the opposite of life and spend most of our lives running away from it until someone close to us passes on, and we are reminded of how fragile and short life can be. Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it that gives us a reason to live life as best we can. Embracing the inevitability of death into our lives helps us build meaning into our lives. It is what awakens a desire in us to leave a legacy that will continue to live on long after we have gone.

Our desire to build something meaningful

One thing is certain, in the end, we will all die, but not everyone lives. Building a meaningful life is something that we all desire. It eases our fear of death, knowing that we have created something worthwhile.

This can be in the form of charity, making an area of our lives a better place for those around us, creating a financial safety net in the form of life insurance or taking out a funeral policy for our loved ones or rebuilding relationships to help create a legacy that will live on long after we have gone. At MiWayLife, we understand that building a lasting legacy starts with taking the first step.

Get busy living

Instead of running from death, it is time to embrace it as a motivator to live life more fearlessly. The chase for the next big thing and being able to secure the financial bag before we retire often causes us to miss out on the most important aspect of life. Living!

Death reminds us to:

Live in the moment. We may not always have control over what happens in the future and how we die, but living in the moment to create a life of worth is important. Planting a seed today that can be beneficial in the future is what building a legacy is all about.

Legacies are built on mistakes. Fear of things not being perfect before we start something can hold us back. All legacies are built on making mistakes and learning from them. The aim is to start.

It creates a sense of urgency. While it may be something that we can never get used to, death reminds us that life is short and it is crucial to give it everything we have. It's also a great motivator to stop procrastinating on doing the things that we have always wanted to do. Whether it's switching jobs, travelling more or securing our financial freedom by investing in things that will protect our financial future.

Take care of the things you love

With so many pressures that come from within and outside of us, it is important to be kinder to yourself. As the adage goes: "You can’t pour from an empty cup." By taking care of yourself, you will be able to take care of your loved ones. Having peace of mind can also be essential, and one of the things that help us do this is knowing that our bases are covered, be it achieving financial stability and taking out life insurance for our loved ones to ensure they are protected financially, even when we are no longer around.
